Is CMS value for money?
The National Audit Office is launching a "value for money" survey for the Child Maintenance Service, and are calling on parents to submit their views, and experiences online.
The Child Maintenance Service replaced the ill-fated Child Support Agency almost 10 years ago. CMS brought welcome improvements but it has still proven to be inefficient in many ways, including lack of enforcement, incorrect calculations, and poor complaint handling. Currently, £395m of child maintenance payments remain uncollected.
As the original Child Support Agency was wound down, thousands of parents saw maintenance arrears written off as they were deemed uncollectible. Are Child Maintenance Service following in its tracks?
If you wish to submit your experience of CMS you can do so here: Child Maintenance Service (nao.org.uk)
The consultation closes at midday 30th July 2021
